Couples Counseling

Couples counseling/therapy formerly identified by most as Marriage counseling/therapy is psychotherapy for couples. In the past, the popular belief suggested that engaged couples participate in pre-marital counseling as criteria for many religious institutions to perform the ceremony in their facility.

Today's couples counseling is inclusive of all couples in various stages of relationships. The purpose of couples therapy is to implement a level of functioning in couples who experience relationship distress. There are various reasons for the desolation in a relationship inclusive of but not limited to poor/lack of communication skills, incompatibility in the level of investment in the relationship, or a broad spectrum of psychological disorders that impair one’s judgment.

The focus of couples counseling is to identify the presence of dissatisfaction and distress in the relationship and to devise and implement a treatment plan with objectives designed to improve or alleviate the presenting symptoms and restore the relationship to a better and healthier level of functioning. The implementations of couples counseling conjoined with each member participating in individual counseling can empower a healthy equitable symbiotic relationship.

“She saved our marriage!”

“Dr. Lucky helped us repair our marriage. After only 6 months, of having been married our marriage began to fall apart.  We had tried other therapists and were ready to give up. Her realistic views of marriage and her own struggles in her marriage that she’d overcame gave us the hope we needed to work out our differences and realize that marriage is a balancing act and as she says, “you have to learn to love each where you are at -at that moment and grow together.”

“Crossed the Rubicon!”

“I was in various past abusive relationships throughout my life. Upon meeting the man of my dreams, I continued to be reactive to my past traumas in my present relationship with my girlfriend. Dr. Lucky pointed out how I needed my own individual therapy before my relationship could grow. My partner and I worked through our issues and recently secured our nuptials!”

“I learned to love myself!”

“She taught me how my past experiences of the relationships that I seen as a child was still driving my current relationship. My spouse and I was able reunite and reboot our marriage!”
